My recent trip to Southern Spain was nothing short of enchanting. Over the course of a week, I had the pleasure of visiting three beautiful cities—Seville, Cordoba, and Cadiz, each offering its own unique blend of history, culture, and stunning architecture.
In Seville, the city’s rich Moorish past comes alive in the majestic Alcázar, a palace filled with intricate tile work and amazing gardens. The towering Giralda and Seville Cathedral dominate the skyline, while the streets buzz with the sounds of flamenco and the tantalizing aroma of tapas.
Cordoba was a journey back in time, with the breathtaking Mezquita, a mosque-turned-cathedral that showcases the seamless blending of Islamic and Christian architectural styles. Wandering through the narrow, flower-filled alleys of the Jewish Quarter, I found myself transported to a world of historic charm and serenity.
Taking a train from Seville to Cordoba is incredibly easy and convenient. High-speed AVE trains connect the two cities frequently, with a journey time of just 40 to 45 minutes. The trains are modern, comfortable, and well-equipped, making it a quick and stress-free way to travel. Both Seville’s Santa Justa station and Cordoba’s station are centrally located, making it simple to access key attractions upon arrival. With frequent departures throughout the day, it’s an ideal option for those looking to explore Cordoba as a day trip or continue their journey through Andalusia.
Cadiz, a coastal gem, offered a more laid-back vibe. The oceanfront promenades, golden beaches, and lively seafood markets provided the perfect setting to unwind. The city’s maritime history is palpable as you explore its old town, fortified walls, and lively plazas.
From the energy of Seville to the serene beauty of Cordoba and the seaside calm of Cadiz, this week in Southern Spain was a journey of discovery, filled with memorable experiences, delicious food, and endless sunshine.
