Pay attention to the signs of your body!

For those who don’t know me, I am a woman who loves to exercise!  It brightens my mood to dedicate time to my body’s health, to have a daily routine and an objective to not just look good but to feel good as well.

A few years back, doctors found a hernia on my lumbar region and the pain was actually very light, it did not really affect my routine.  However, in the last three to four months I have felt intense pain in my lower back and my leg.  Pain that comes and goes but still has not really affected any mobility. I have to admit that I have a bad habit of enduring pain, I do not recommend it though.  If something hurts me I do not like to take anything, I just wait it out and hope that it goes away.  Unfortunately, the new pain that I was feeling was getting more intense each time.

I used to have medical insurance through my job, but the pandemic pretty much did away with that.  I am currently not working like so many thousands of Americans and I do not have health insurance.  By the grace of God I had the possibility to travel to my country, Ecuador, and it was there where I was able to get a full medical exam.

I share this with you because I want to emphasize the importance of keeping in tuned with your body, listening to what it is telling you and to seek medical advice when necessary.  I was diagnosed with a severe hernia in my L4 and L5 lumbar region.  According to the doctors it may need surgery in the future but for the moment they did a procedure to block it and keep it from getting worse.  I also have early signs of endometriosis.  These diagnoses are not going to stop me from my crazy drive to keep working out but it is a reality check that I have to take care of myself and have a better plan of action.

Now, my advice to you is do not postpone anything with your health!  Any slight pain on your body is your body asking for help, especially if it is not a “normal” pain. It is your body sending you a tik tok message that you need to focus on that part that is bothering you and to give it the attention that it needs.  I realize that the circumstances can be tough and different for each and every one of us, but do what is within your means to feel better.  Do not wait and risk things to get worse when you could have tackled them from the beginning.

Thank you to all of you who have been checking one me.  I have a bit of recuperating to do and some therapy as well but I will be fine.  In the meantime, stay safe during this pandemic and get yourself checked out if possible!
